To Live’s to Fly

March 7, 2024, Townes Van Zandt would have turned 80.

On Townes’ Birthday we are doing something Special.

If you are in Ft. Worth or Austin, Texas on Thursday March 7 or in the event of
thunderstorms Saturday March 9, be on the lookout for Townes.

LOOK UP!

Ft. Worth was Special to Townes. He was born there on March 7, 1944.
Townes was proud of the Van Zandt’s significant role in the Founding of the town.
Townes was a great-great-great-grandson of Isaac Van Zandt (a prominent leader of the
Republic of Texas) and a great-great-grandnephew of Khleber Miller Van Zandt (one of the founders of Fort Worth)

The Cultural District sits on a 600-acre farm that belonged to the Van Zandt family &
he is buried with his ancestors at Dido Cemetery, just outside of Ft. Worth, on a family farm donated to that town.

We will be doing an Honor flyover at his grave site at 9:00 in the morning & will be over
Ft. Worth till noon. A second flight will take place from 3:30 – 6:30 finishing with a sunset flyover at the cemetery.

In the meantime, in Austin, Texas, we will be flying a Celebratory banner in honor of his
birthday with old & new friends… you! He will be waving to you, so wave back!
The flight times will be March 7th at 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon & 4:00 PM to 6:00
Again, in case of thunderstorms, these flights will take place on Saturday March 9

I’m in Tennessee, so I won’t get to see them. Anyone who can get pics and video, I would really appreciate you sharing with me, so I can share with others!
